Jeffrey Jay Haggerty, 64, passed away on March 17, 2026, in Cary, North Carolina. He was born on February 5, 1962, in Wiesbaden, Germany, and later made his home in Surf City, North Carolina, a place that reflected his deep love for the beach and the water.
Jeff grew up in Cary, NC, where he spent his entire childhood and young adulthood. He attended Cary High School, where he distinguished himself as an outstanding swimmer. His passion and talent for swimming carried him to North Carolina State University, where he proudly competed as a member of the swim team. Jeff graduated from NC State in 1985 and was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. A lifelong die-hard NC State sports fan, he never lost his Wolfpack pride.
Jeff enjoyed a long and highly successful career in the medical device industry, where his work ethic, charisma, and ability to connect with people left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.
Known as the life of the party, Jeff had an unmatched gift for conversation and friendship. He was someone who could strike up a conversation with anyone and turn a stranger into a friend. His circle of friends was vast, and he cherished spending time with those closest to him, sharing laughs, stories, and time well spent.
Above all else, Jeff was passionate about his family. He was an extraordinarily supportive parent who wanted nothing more than for his children to be successful, happy, and fulfilled. He took immense pride in his two children and four grandchildren, and his love for them was evident in everything he did. He also adored his dogs and the wider family who meant so much to him.
Jeff’s heart belonged to the coast and the water. He loved the beach in every form—being on his boat, near the ocean, or simply surrounded by water brought him peace and joy.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, John Haggerty, who was not only his dad but also his best friend. Also, his two labs who were everything to him, Frisco and Scout.
He is survived by his loving family:
· His mother, DaVeda Haggerty
· His son, Brooks Haggerty, and wife Megan Haggerty, and their children Holland, Hawkins, and Brady
· His daughter, Erin Dowgiallo, and husband Bobby Dowgiallo, and their daughter Rowen
