James Franklin Newman

James (Jim) Franklin Newman 94, of Clayton, NC was surrounded by loved ones as he went to heaven on January 1, 2023. He was predeceased in death by his parents Isaac Newman and Selena C. Newman (Truex) of Belmar, NJ. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy M. Newman of Clayton NC. Jim served our country in WWII in the Navy from April 4, 1946 to May 16, 1949. He worked for American Bakeries Company as a delivery truck driver until his retirement where he then moved to Florida and drove a public bus. He loved all cars and tinkered on them often throughout his earlier years. He is also survived by his four children, Ruth Dean (Tod) Clayton NC, Kenneth Newman (Lynn) Wake Forest NC, Melinda Van Houten (John) Okeechobee FL, and Gayle Newman Franklin TN. He has six grandchildren, Melissa Hill (Channing) Clayton NC, Jeffrey Hogan Hollywood Maryland, Allison Hill (Bennett) Nashville TN, Emily Brunelle (Jordan) Columbia TN, Robert Newman Wake Forest NC, Andrew Newman Flushing NY. He also has eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date to be announced.
