Elizabeth (Liz Marty) Haas born May 23rd, 1934, in Grand Rapids, MN and joined the love of her life of 58 years however we want to think it was 67 years as even in his death they were not separated in love, Doran (Dick Haas).
Liz was survived by her children, Michael (Mike), Patrick, Sherrie, and Donald (Don), her grandchildren, Donna, Joey, Theresa, Peter, Jodi, Jeff, Emily (who has already joined Mom in heaven), Matthew, Caitlyn, and Haley, and her great-grandchildren Aiden and Victoria. Mom was blessed with very loving daughter in-laws; Katia and Melissa.
Liz was the kind of mother that had a hot home-made dinner on the table every night along with a fresh baked dessert and she loved her sweets. She even had her candy time right before she brushed her teeth.
She also believed in not spending money on frivolous things, choosing instead to focus on learning and making memories. She loved to travel. As a family, we’ve been to most of the states, traveling far and wide. We had trips to national parks, camping in Yosemite, going to Niagara Falls, visiting historic sites like Washington, DC and all the little towns along the way since they were always car trips to experience the states. As a couple, they went all over Europe, and any place that had warm weather and tropical flowers.
We were brought up in farm towns in IL which we experienced farm life, a valley surrounded by mountains in NY where nature, city life (45 minutes from NYC and 2 hours from the ocean) beach life were experiences, annual trips to the Jersey shore. And finally, as a family we experienced FL giving us the beach life and their retirement home. It was a wonderful childhood that anyone would envy and it was all because of the love of our parents and what they wanted us to experience while giving us the values we all have today.
Besides the caring, loving wife she always made dad feel special and always right there alongside him with a tool her hand, buying unloved houses, turning them into beautiful homes of love. She was a woman of many talents while never fearing hard work. At the age of 82 she was still trying to climb up on the roof to help Mike, amazing in every way, she was.
You will be greatly missed by all, but it brings us peace that you are now with dad and Emily.
