

Timothy (Ted) McCarthy Bryant (92) passed away peacefully March 18, 2025 in Englewood Fl. Tim was born in Haverhill Mass on July 23, 1932, raised his family in Lawrence Mass, and enjoyed his many retirement years with his beloved surviving wife of 68 years Ellen (Michaud) Bryant in their special summer “Island” home in West Newfield Maine, and their winter home in Englewood Florida.
They shared 8 children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tim was raised by his mother Helen (McCarthy) Bryant, he graduated from Haverhill High School Class of 1951 and subsequently enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a proud Korean War Veteran who served as a ground based forward air controller with the Mosquito tactical air control group that helped direct air strikes and provided visual reconnaissance.
He spent his professional career as a field engineer working for IBM (International Business Machines Corporation). Tim and Ellen together founded the very successful Knights Catering Company which was a true family affair including chef Albert “Gramps” Michaud along with their children, friends and extended family all sharing in the work and fun.
Tim spent more than a decade as President and football coach leading the Lawrence Pop Warner Football program with his beautiful wife. He enjoyed many decades coaching basketball at St. Augustine’s Church as well as the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence. They were very active parishioners in St Augustine’s Church on Tower Hill. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus Society achieving the rank of Grand Knight.
After his retirement in 1987, Tim and Ellen enjoyed two years at the University of Massachusetts - Lowell before building their forever home in Oyster Creek Community located in Englewood, Fl. He also became a skilled custom cabinet / furniture maker creating many beautiful pieces for his wife and many family members.Tim believed he could fix anything, and was very generous with his time working on many projects and repairs for friends and family. Tim also enjoyed volunteering at many local schools sharing his perspective on the events of the Korean war.
Tim and Ellen contributed in many ways to their new Florida community including co-founding a very active computer club with over 100 members offering lessons and events. He started the Veteran’s Club and instituted the Annual Community Veterans Day Observances as well as annual luaus and pig roasts. He enjoyed the Oyster Creek senior softball team and senior olympics events.They actively participated in their local church - St Francis, volunteered for many years with the Meals on Wheels program, and participated in the Big Brother / Big Sister program.
Most of all, he loved Ellen and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a constant presence in their lives and at their many games, activities, and milestone events.
A memorial mass will be held at St Augustine's Church (Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish) 128 Ames St., Lawrence Mass on Friday, June 13th at 6PM with a celebration of life gathering to follow at St. Theresa’s Church (Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish) 22 Plymouth St., Methuen Mass. His interment Patriot Honor Guard Ceremony will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery for Veterans in Bourne Mass on Monday, June 16th at 1pm.
