Bob was a resident of Englewood, Florida for 27 years after retiring from Ford Motor Company in Brookpark, Ohio. He was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania and grew up in Ralph, Pennsylvania in a time when shooting marbles, playing football in cow pastures, cowboys and Indians, and baseball in the street were commonplace. After graduating from German Township High School in McClellandtown, PA in 1955, Bob enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. He served in Korea post-war as an E-4 Ammo Records Clerk specializing in Explosive Ordnance Disposal.
There wasn’t anything Bob couldn’t do! He built 2 of his homes in Medina County, Ohio himself, while working 2nd and 3rd shifts at Ford, repaired and rebuilt many vehicles and always lent a helping hand. He was the embodiment of a good human.
He enjoyed hosting football parties and gatherings. He was a Steelers fan, and he proudly cut his own grass on his beloved zero turn lawn mower until the end of his life on Earth. Grateful for his Polish heritage, Bob loved cabbage rolls, his family’s nut roll recipe, and he was a huge fan of Big Joe’s Polka Show.
Bob lived a full life with honesty and integrity. He had strong values and was loved by many.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Antoinette (Karpinsky) Syrek, a sister, Lillian Syrek, granddaughter, Scarlet Hill, and brother-in-law, Clif Loomis . His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the hearts of his 4 children: Linda [Randy] Kelly, Karen [Martin] Moehring, Diane [Tim] Vandersall and Dan [Angel] Syrek; his 10 grandchildren: Jordan Moehring, Zac Syrek, Oliver Moehring, Skyeler [Eli] Howder, Anna [Zach] Clark, Sam Hill, Aly Syrek, Elena Moehring, Tyler Hill, and Joe Hill; his brother, Bill [Joan] Syrek; his sister, Gene Loomis; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his much loved neighborhood family.
A mass and Interment will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grove City, Florida on February 10, 2023 at 9:30 am.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider a donation to their favorite charity in Bob’s name.
