Rene’ Garner Hays, age 65, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024 at the dream retirement home she was about to begin sharing with the love of her life and husband of 43 years, Ron Hays, at Myakka River Motorcoach Resort in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was able to spend the past year traveling to many places she’d dreamed about while visiting friends and family.
Rene’ was born on July 9, 1959 in Clovis, NM to Derrell and Faye Garner. Her childhood was spent in Amarillo, TX and Carlsbad, NM. She spent her teenage years in Farwell, TX, living with her grandparents Earl and Ruthie Routon and graduating from Farwell High School in 1977. She then attended West Texas State University and met Ron before beginning their life together. She lived in Arlington, TX, Odessa, TX, Florence, SC, Knoxville, TN, Denton, TX, and Tyler, TX through the years.
Nothing gave her more joy in life than raising her three children, Brandon, Jordan, and Chelsea, and proudly serving as “NayNay” to her six grandchildren: Lincoln, Austin, Garner, Calloway, Harper, and Noah. As her many, many friends through the years can attest, she loved fiercely and wholeheartedly. She never met a stranger and poured her energy into those she loved. She was especially close to her mother, and we are overjoyed that they are once again able to enjoy their daily conversations in Heaven.
In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by her father Derrell (Patti) Garner, brother Dennis (Cindy) Garner, and nephew Dillon Garner. She is preceded in death by her mother Faye (John) Gulley, grandparents Earl and Ruthie Routon, Howard Garner and Mora Schlueter.
As our family grieves, we appreciate your messages of love and remembrance for the incredible wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend she was. We hope you’ll take a moment to think of a memory you shared together or an example of the love she shared… Perhaps over a glass of chardonnay, a Michael Bublé song, or a Lifetime movie.
A private graveside service will be held on November 16, 2024 at Oklahoma Lane Cemetery, near Farwell, TX.
