It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of our beloved Paul Raymond Nagel. Paul passed away peacefully the evening of April 28, 2026 in Port Charlotte, Florida, just a few days after his 72nd birthday.
Paul was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan to Ray and Janet Nagel. He was the oldest of three, with his sister AnnMarie and younger brother Bill. Paul developed a love of music early in life. He enjoyed listening to music, especially The Beatles, however playing music was where his real passion grew. Paul started playing in bands as early as the 7th grade. With those bands, he developed many lifelong friendships.
Paul met his wife, Annegrete, when they were teenagers and were married on April 4, 1975. They moved to St. Clair Shores and made a home with their two daughters, Natalie and Alaina. Paul went back to school and became an Automotive Designer. The family loved swimming in the pool and barbecuing in the backyard. Paul and Anne loved going to concerts, especially The Jazz Festival in Detroit. On the weekends, he met up with his friends and played guitar and sang all throughout Metro Detroit, including places like The Flying Machine, The Royal Touch, and Coach’s Corner. Paul had a great sense of humor and was always ready to make everyone laugh with a silly joke. Paul loved cheering for his hometown sports teams The Pistons, The Lions, The Red Wings and his favorite team, The Tigers.
When the girls got a little older, the family decided to go to Florida for vacation. On that trip at a restaurant in St. Pete, they saw a man playing guitar on the beach and Paul decided that it was his dream to someday do the same. Throughout the years they traveled to Florida often and eventually found their paradise in Englewood. When they retired, Paul and Anne became “snowbirds” splitting their time between Michigan and Florida. It was then that he lived his dream of entertaining people with his guitar and singing the classics usually by the water. When he wasn’t playing guitar, he enjoyed golf, drinking Bloody Marys by the pool and watching sunsets on the beach with the love of his life, Anne.
Their daughter, Alaina, made them grandparents. The grandkids were the light of Paul’s life. He had many beautiful years and many happy memories with them. Paul was an incredible father and grandfather, always there when you needed him.
Paul is survived by his wife of 51 years, Annegrete; daughter Natalie Mouyianis (Mike); daughter Alaina Nagel and grandchildren Oliver, Griffin and Violet. Survived by his sister AnnMarie Carpenter and his brother William Nagel and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Janet Nagel.
A Celebration of Life will take place and arrangements will be announced soon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Meals on Wheels, a charity that Paul volunteered for, The Leukemia Research Foundation, a charity that was important to Paul after the loss of his brother in law, or The American Lung Association.
