Michael C. Rockenstyre, Sr., born July 11, 1946, died Saturday, March 4, 2023. Michael was a 1962 graduate of Voorheesville High School, Voorheesville, New York. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967 and began his long-standing career in telecommunications not long after. Throughout his career, Michael forged friendships that lasted his lifetime. He was a long-standing member of the Elks club and a recent member of the Moose Lodge. He spent his days camping, fishing, golfing, playing softball, bowling, and caring for his wife of 53 years. He had an insurmountable love of his family and friends and was one of the most selfless compassionate humans that you could ever know. He had the ability to inspire and lift everyone around him through his selflessness and faith. He was the Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus and continued to serve until his passing. He was loved and respected by many.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary Petrosino Rockenstyre, his children Fred (MaryLee - predeceased) Caster, Ronald Caster Sr., Micheal (Maria) Rockenstyre Jr., his daughter Lori Rockenstyre and his pup Joey (Kevin), Sister Linda (Elton) Crounse, brothers John (Rosemary) Rockenstyre, William Rockenstyre, Dwayne P. (Melinda) Rockenstyre,. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren (Kristina, Ronald Jr, Ryan, Amanda, Andrew, Brandon, Nikolas, Collin), seven great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many many close friends that he considered family. He was predeceased by his father and mother (George “Bud” and Mary V Rockenstyre) and his brother George Rockenstyre III, his sister-in-law Judy Rockenstyre.
Celebration of life services will be held Friday, March 10th at 11:00 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 1441 Spear St, Port Charlotte, FL.
An additional celebration of life will be held at a future date in late spring or early summer for friends and family in upstate New York.
Memorial Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers in memory of Michael Rockenstyre to Catholic Faith Appeal at St. Maximilian Kolbe.
