

Merrila Joyce Burroughs, 86, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025 at The Gallery at North Port in North Port, Florida. In addition to her parents and step parents, Merrila was predeceased by her brothers Butch, Tommy and Chuck.
Merrila was born in Moline, Illinois on January 4, 1939, and lived most of her younger years in the Quad City area of Davenport, Iowa and her later years in the Port Charlotte/North Port, Florida area.
On August 3, 1963, she married the love of her life, Larry Burroughs and remained married until her death.
Merrila had a deep passion for reading romance novels and she never left home without a good book tucked inside her purse.
She also loved the water. In her younger days, being out on the water was what she loved the most. She loved all boats and especially loved the many cruises that were taken with family and friends.
Her passion for water is what led them to build their forever home which overlooked a tranquil lake. She loved relaxing by it every chance she had and watching the sunsets were the best.
She also loved country music and you could sometimes catch her and her husband out and about line dancing to the newest hits and many of the oldies.
Merrila is survived by her husband Larry Burroughs of 62 years, sons Marty Burroughs(Deb), Dondra Pasternak(Larry(Deceased)), Beth Huchro(Mike Huchro(Deceased)), Jeff Burroughs(Vicki), 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Merrila also left behind brothers Butch(Pauline), Gary(Tony), Tommy(Deceased(Lorrie)), Steve(Bonnie), Chuck(Deceased) and her sisters Marlene(Al), Shelley, Lisa(Dave) and Janice.
There will be a celebration of life for Merrila at Murdock Baptist Church at 18375 Cochran Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33948(Building B) on December 13 at 10am for all of those who are able to attend.
The family welcomes floral arrangements, which may be delivered to the church before the service.
