Jean was my first cousin.  I remember one Easter at dinner Hal laid down on the couch. fell asleep and someone put Easter flowers on his chest and took pics.  I also Remember babysitting  Nancy.  Loved helping.  She was the delight of my Aunt Hannah and uncle Ned.

I am so sorry for your loss, he was a good man!  I remember when he was stationed in Bethesday and had rented a house without seein it.  He asked my dad, William Freeburn and his family to check it out and get it ready for his family.  When we walked in we nearly gaged!  There was filth everywhere including butter on the ceiling of the kitchen and month old*or worse* milk left in a refrigerator that had no power for weeks or longer!  It was disgusting, but we got it cleaned.  Mainly my sister and I!  As a reward she and I got to babysit their kids while they took my parents out as a thank you!  The kids were brats and we got so sick of herding them we put them in chairs using his neckties to bind them!  They spent the rest of the evening quitely trying to untie them!  I am still very sorry he is gone as I liked him!  Wm Freeburn

93 of Punta Gorda, FL died August 19, 2022. He was born at home in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Preceded in death by parents Dr. Harold E. Freeburn and Lucille (Gatts); stepmother Frances (Burger); wife M.  Jean (Gerber); sisters Dorothy Hansen (William), Lucille Boland (Donald), Faye Sigg (Bob) and brother Ronald (Patricia). Survived by his daughter Nancy Jones (Thomas); sons Steven (Teresa), Gregory (Angela) and Scott (Linda); wife Pamela (Patterson); stepsons Brad, Brian and Brice Patterson; brothers Donald (Kathryn), Kenneth (Susan), Barry (Regina); sisters Beverly Mackel (Howard) and Barbara Facci (James); ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 
 
Harold graduated from Johnstown High School and University of Pittsburgh Dental School. He joined the Navy in 1953 and served honorably until 1985 after having been stationed around the country and the world including Florida, Iceland, Bermuda and Guam, where he retired as a Captain and Commanding Officer of Dental Services. He moved to Punta Gorda, FL and continued to practice dentistry until 1998.
 
“Hal” enjoyed swimming daily in his pool, singing in church choir for many years, and was a passionate Pittsburgh fan of football and baseball.  He was a dog lover and had many over the years. He was also a golfer who enjoyed the game into his late 80’s.
