David was a character of the best sort. He could be grumpy, but was mostly a source of good-humored entertainment. He had an extensive repertoire of catch phrases and words of wisdom. He also had an extensive collection of hats, Hawaiian shirts and outrageous t-shirts and two Grinch costumes. He looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed playing the Grinch each year!
David and Jane hosted an Annual Pig Post weekend for friends and family for nearly 30 years. David could often be found by water sitting reading, floating in his homemade “manatee ring”, dining, or on a boat. He loved spending time and traveling with Jane, Colleen and Jason and also with close friends Jack and Dianne. He enjoyed playing bocce and darts and watching football and auto racing. He also enjoyed riding his e-bike, especially with Colleen.
David was a carpenter. He worked for several companies until 1990 when he accepted a position at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where he stayed for 27 years. He retired in 2017.
David leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Jane (Ritter) and their daughter Colleen and son-in-law Jason Last of Franklin, MA. He also leaves his sisters Jane Clifford of Randolph, MA and Susan Prairrie of Peekskill, NY and his brothers Michael of Port Charlotte, FL and John of Watertown, NY. He was predeceased by his parents David and Dorothea (Galvin) and his brother Peter.
David and his family are grateful for the clinically excellent and compassionate care provided to them, by Dr. Blessy Jacob and the Staff of Florida Cancer Specialists, Dr. Caren Taylor of Florida Digestive Health and the Staff of Tidewell Hospice.
