Annette Alessi

Annie was born in Warsaw, IN to the late Robert and Betty Hibschman and preceded in death by her husband John Alessi whom she married in 1974. Annie is survived by their daughter, Jennifer Alessi-Westlake, and five grandchildren: Joshua, Julia, Jana, Jake, and Johnathan, her sisters; Linda (Terry) Bowersock and Susan (Brad) Morello, four nieces and a nephew.

Annie started her career as a tailor, a trade she learned during an apprenticeship at Wright’s Men’s Shop on Venice, Ave. She would later become the head seamstress for Sak’s 5th Ave in Birmingham, AL. Gifted with the ability to sew, Annie had made alterations on countless wedding dresses, even made clothing for members of congress. As much as she loved sewing, she equally loved the outdoors; she enjoyed going for walks and gardening.

It was her love of Jesus that made her quietly stand out. She was an example of God’s love to her family and friends. Spending time in God’s word daily was another way she was an example to her family. She recently belonged to Lakeside Baptist Church and was a member of a small group there.

She loved all her grandchildren but had a special connection to her grandson Jake, who plays baseball for the Venice Challengers, a program for kids who can’t play in the usual way. Jake and Reese, her beloved Dushahund, loved to be by Annie’s side no matter what she was doing.
