Born in Chicago, Pat grew up in Tinley Park, Illinois, graduating from Tinley Park Elementary and Bremen Township High School. Pat was a true people person with abounding sweetness. She met Guy, her husband for 57 years and 10 months, in Tinley. In addition to Guy, she is survived by son Greg Luttrell and wife Karol, daughter Lori Simonson and husband Rob, grandchildren Amy and Doug Luttrell and CJ and Danny Simonson, sister Barb Kahl and husband Dave, as well as so many others that she “mothered” over the years.
Following family moves to Indiana, Arizona, California, Illinois and Minnesota, with children in school, she entered the workforce as a waitress while completing an Associate in Arts degree. This led to positions with two firms in the Minneapolis area as office manager. With a final move to Arizona in 1984, she found America West, a young airline hiring flight attendants, and applied. The rest is history.
Pat graduated with class 21 at America West and was cross-trained to work any position: be it flight attendant, ticket agent, or baggage handler. When forced to choose a position, she chose full time flight attendant and traveled far and wide during her career. Pat retired after 28 years of service in the air leaving pleased passengers, wonderful work mates, soothed crying babies, and untold back rubs for stressed pilots and flight attendants in her wake.
After retiring from the airline, Pat continued her volunteer work with the Phoenix Symphony, honed her skills as a bell ringer at church, began practicing yoga, traveled, cared for her family and friends, and joined the Phoenix Navigators at Sky Harbor Airport (volunteers with purple coats who act as roving concierges helping passengers find their way around). All of these outlets allowed Pat to do what she did best: love others. Those who have ever crossed her path will remember her as a doting mother, amazing cook, skilled seamstress, creative mind, crossword fiend, music lover, giver of joy, wonderful listener, and adventurer.
You are welcome to join family and friends at 2:00pm on July 22nd to celebrate Pat. A service will be held at The Bridge United Methodist Church, 4900 E Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85018 with a reception to follow.
