Obituary of Mark Evans McNeil
Mark went home to be with the Lord on March 7th, 2023, at the age of 79. Mark was born on April 12, 1943, in Columbus, Georgia to the late Joseph & Dorothy McNeil. Mark is survived by his beautiful wife, Cathy S. McNeil of 53 years; Daughter Amy Short (Craig) & Granddaughter Madison; Son Paul McNeil (Jill) & Granddaughters Lauren & Brooke; Sister Faye Kimbrough, Brothers Malcolm & Kenneth McNeil. Mark served in the United States Army 1967-1969 in communications. He worked numerous different jobs over the years, Motorola, Lansdale, Costco and volunteered in churches. Mark fell ill with Cocci Meningitis on the brain in the early 1980’s, he made medical history, and was the longest living with the disease. Mark loved the hot Arizona heat. He loved car shows, airplanes, trains and his Parakeets Sunny & Snowy. Mark was very competitive when it came to playing board games and card games with his family and friends. One of Mark's favorite pastimes was watching Hallmark, he loved the sweet stories they told. Most importantly Mark loved his family. Cathy was the love of his life; they did everything together. Whenever they would go anywhere together people would always comment on what a cute sweet couple they were and loved seeing their love for one another, always hand in hand. Mark was proud of his Daughter and Son. He spoke of his 3 beautiful granddaughters all the time, they were his most prized possession. There are so many things to share. When it comes to Mark we will always remember the Poem “The Dash” he lived an absolute Amazing Dash! His faith in the Lord guided him home. Private Memorial Services on March 18th, 2023. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation made in his name to First Christian Church of Tempe 2720 S. Dorsey Lane Tempe, Arizona 85282.
