Leona Marie Boehler
January 18, 1938 – November 19, 2022
Leona Marie Boehler (nee McLaughlin) joined her beloved husband, Ron, in heaven on November 18, 2022. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Jeanette and John McLaughlin and sister to John, Joseph, David, and Jane, all of who preceded her in death. Leona is survived by her children, Ronald Matthew Boehler (Michelle), Karen Boehler, Tracy Henry (Richard), and Brenda Boehler; grandchildren, Jeanette Albert, Rick Worthy (Breanna), Elizabeth Bralish, Naomi Cole (Ian), Danielle Boehler, Matthew Henry, Sarah Fankhauser Burton (Matthew), and Ronald James Boehler (Kiley); and her great-grandchildren, Christian Diamond, Donevan Lewis, Hakeem Lewis, Kaleb Bralish, Amy Cole, Emma Cole, Noah Worthy, and Jack Hemingway, Oliver Boehler, and Harper Boehler, who all loved and will miss her dearly. In addition to her immediate family, Leona leaves behind a very extensive list of extended family and friends, including her best friend Cheryl. Lee was loved by many and her absence on earth will be felt by many. Known as “Hockey Grandma” to her grandchildren due to her fanatic love of the NHL, Leona lived an adventurous life, raised in Northern New Jersey, she would travel to New York City on Saturday morning to dance on a variety tv show until she was in high school. Leona and her dad would travel to the VA hospitals and do skits and dances for the vets. She played basketball, and loved traveling to the city, and going to dance halls with her friends. After high school, she secured a position in the FBI. Soon after, she met Ronald Anthony Boehler and began a romance that would span 45 years and relocate them to Tucson, Arizona where they would raise their four children and face all of life’s adventures together until Ron’s death in 2006. Leona missed him every day and could not wait to dance with him again within the pearly gates. There is no doubt he was waiting to meet her in her final minutes. A mass will be held on December 3, 2022, at 10 a.m. at St. Cyril of Alexandria, located at 4725 E. Pima St, Tucson, Arizona 85712. Interment will be held at Fort Huachuca Post Cemetary in Sierra Vista immediately following the service where Leona will be laid to rest with Ron. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Leona’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Operation Smile.
