Born on October 30, 1934, in Buffalo, New York, Kathy lived a life defined by love, laughter, family, and countless memories. Kathy was the beloved daughter of Anna and Milton Speidel and grew up alongside her sister, Barbara Csont(Jack Csont). She later married her high school sweetheart, James Granton, and together they shared 63 years of marriage.
After a brief career with Bell Telephone Company, Kathy dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her three daughters, Lisa (Paul) Gettings, Lori (Walter) Doberstein, and Lynn (David) Hausrath. She and Jim built their family and raised their children in Amherst, New York. Following retirement, Kathy and Jim moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, a place they truly loved and called home. It was here they spent their time traveling, soaking in the sunshine and mountains views and enjoying years with extended family, Fran Hausrath, many nieces, nephews and neighbors.
Kathy's greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jamie (Felix) Stone, Alyse (Larry) Gettings, Corinne (Matthew) Silvestri, Nicholas (Erica) Doberstein, and Jenna Doberstein. Becoming a great-grandmother brought her even more happiness, and she adored Emma and Madelyn Silvestri, who brought endless smiles to her face. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent watching them grow.
Kathy had a gift for preserving memories. She lovingly created photo albums that documented family milestones, celebrations, and everyday moments, leaving behind a priceless collection that will continue to tell her family's story for generations. She was creative and crafty, loved to cook, enjoyed watching sports, and was known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Kathy had a way of making people feel comfortable and loved. Those who knew her will always remember her sharp sense of humor and her ability to find joy in life's everyday moments.
A lifelong animal lover, Kathy adored the many pets who shared her life, especially Willie, Butchie, and Rocky.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, James Granton; her parents, Anna and Milton Speidel; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Walt and Alma Seebohm.
Lovingly known as Mucka to family, her legacy lives on through those she cherished, the traditions she created, the recipes she shared, the memories she preserved, and the laughter she brought into the lives of those around her.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
