February 21, 1938 – September 22, 2021
James (Jim) Corbin Everett – A stranger to no one, a friend to all – passed away on September 22, 2021, in Chandler, AZ after being diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s, he was 83 years old. He is preceded by death by both of his parents Casey and Helen Everett and granddaughter Natasha White.
Jim was born in Albuquerque, NM on February 21, 1938, to parents Chester (Casey) and Helen Everett. When Jim was 3 months old, they moved to Denver, Colorado where he went to grade school and attended North High School in Denver. As a senior in high school in 1956 he chose to get his GED and join the United States Navy to serve his country as a SeeBee. He assisted in building the airfield at Clark AFB in the Philippines. He spent his last years aboard the USS WM. F. Sieverling (DE441) and the USS Hopewell (DD681) where he was a machinist mate. There he made many friends and supported the Navy from 1956-1959. After leaving the Navy he came back to Colorado and attended school at Pueblo State College. During that time, he was introduced to ReLayne Nowak, who he married on December 30, 1961. They would have celebrated 60 beautiful years of marriage this December 2021. From this union they had 3 children, James Everett (Sheila Oldham), Michelle Everett-White, and Scott Everett (Kristi Andersen) and were blessed with 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Jim was a man of many trades but primarily spent his career working in the oil industry and transportation. Jim loved sports and volunteered much of his time to the community and enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball team. Jim and ReLayne loved to travel and tried to attend many of their grandchildren’s school functions and took advantage of many flight benefits when they could. But most of their travel consisted of getting in a car or truck and spending many weekends camping, fishing, and boating. Jim and ReLayne together spent 40 years living in Westminster, Colorado in their first home, before retiring and moving to Apache Junction, Arizona. Jim enjoyed playing golf in Arizona after retiring and donated much of his free time marshalling at the local golf course. He was a member of many social and military lodges to include a life member of BPOE, The Eagles and VFW, where he also donated time handing out poppies on Memorial Day to fellow service members to honor the men and women who have died fighting for our country. Another one of his favorite past times was just sitting on a porch or in his garage watching people walk by and striking up conversation. No one was a stranger and everyone a friend. Jim will be missed; he was a loving husband and a wonderful father.
The family wishes to thank Park Senior Villas, Memory Care Facility in Chandler, Arizona, and Hospice of the Valley for providing such wonderful care to their loved one the last month of his life.
