Barbara, born on February 22, 1941, in Buffalo, New York, embarked on her final journey on January 17, 2024. In 1976, she, her beloved husband Frank, sons Scot and Frank T., and daughters Brenda, Kim, and Mickaline, moved to Phoenix.
Barbara and Frank's love story began in 1960 in East Otto, NY, and their union lasted nearly 63 years. A leader from her early days, Barbara served as class president in 1959 at Mount St. Joseph Academy in Buffalo, New York. Following a dedicated career in the Washington Elementary School District, she retired in the valley in 1993, leaving behind a legacy affectionately known as the "Lunch Lady."
While achieving professional success, Barbara's heart lay in creating lasting family memories and hand crafting beautiful baby blankets. Over her lifetime, she crocheted and joyfully gifted them to numerous babies. Barbara also handmade boundless baby care packages for military families.
Acknowledged as the world's greatest wife, mother, sister, aunt, and nanie, Barbara was also an expert holiday decorator, thrift shopper, and hostess that always ensured there was room at the table for one more. Her altruistic spirit shone brightly in 2012 when she received a MAX Hero’s recognition from the United Blood Center of Phoenix for remarkable blood and platelet donations. While summering in Buffalo, NY, between 2009 and 2012, Barbara donated platelets 24 times at Roswell Hospital. In 2013, she was recognized for volunteering over 265 service hours at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop.
Barbara, an earth angel and heaven-sent presence, volunteered countless hours alongside Frank. Known for her boundless kindness and generosity, everyone touched by Barbara's warmth will deeply miss her.
She is survived by her daughters Brenda (Vincent) Tauscher, Lorie, Kim (Dan) Giles, Mickaline (Larry) Shroyer, son Frank T., numerous grandchildren, and a plethora of great-grandchildren. Barbara's legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved.
In her final days, Barbara experienced care and comfort from Hospice of the West and the Auberge at Peoria. As we bid farewell to our beloved mom, nanie, sister, aunt, cousin, and best friend, we collectively express our gratitude for the incredible woman she was. Barbara, you were truly amazing, and we love you dearly.
