Ursula Johanna Orme, 89, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A longtime resident of Lakeland, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ursula was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, and came to the United States in 1954, where she later became a proud American citizen. Fluent in both German and English, she carried her heritage with her throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Lücke and Katharina Dieffnbach and her husband, Donald Orme.
She is survived by her sister, Inge; her five children, Kathe Lloyd, Bruce Sabourin, Joyce Wagner, Dale Carrillo, and Tina Durden; as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
Ursula spent much of her career in office management with D.S. Hornsby’s Trucking, Inc. and Sun-Glo-Pools. In her retirement years, she found great joy working in the nursery at First Baptist Church, where she was deeply loved by both the children and their parents.
She was a well-respected artist, with her paintings earning numerous awards in local competitions. She also loved yoga and tending to her gardens, where her remarkable green thumb was always on display.
Ursula was a strong, determined, and opinionated woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She lived life on her own terms and left lasting impression on everyone she met. She also had a deep love for animals, especially dachshunds and golden retrievers. In her final years, she found special comfort and companionship in her beloved little dog, Mollie.
She also helped design two of the homes she lived in—one in Lakeland, Florida, and one in North Carolina. True to her nature, she didn’t just design them; she rolled up her sleeves and worked right alongside the construction, bringing her vision to life with her own hands. And if you knew Ursula, you knew this—her home wasn’t just clean… it was Ursula clean. The kind of clean where you could eat off the floors—and she might have handed you a plate and told you to go right ahead.
A private celebration of life will be held with family.
She will be remembered for her strength, her spirit, and the love she gave so freely. She will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. 💛
