

Sheri Merritt of Lake Wales, Florida passed away on September 1, 2025 at the age of 78. She was born on April 18, 1947 at Ft. Meade, Maryland where she grew up in a military family living throughout the United States.
Her favorite time was the 5 years she and her family lived in Japan. Sheri loved the community and friends she made there and in 2018 was thrilled to take a trip to Japan to revisit the town and people she knew. She graduated high school in 1965 from John A. Gabriel’s High School in East Lansing, Michigan and went on to earn her associates degree at Montcalm Community College in Sidney, Michigan.
Sheri was the owner of a family restaurant, The Pizza Place in Greenville, Michigan and Cedar Springs, Michigan for 10 years while raising her 3 children with her husband David Mosher. In 1989, she reconnected with the love of her life, Skip Merritt, whom she married in 1990 and moved from Michigan to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to begin a new chapter in her life. There she found a career in public service as a case worker for the state of Pennsylvania Department for 20 years until her retirement in 2010.
In 2012, Sheri began the third chapter of her life retiring to Lake Wales, Florida with her husband. They enjoyed 13 wonderful years in their home in the Lake Ashton Retirement Community.
Sheri had many interests and activities that she loved. Playing golf, going to bridge club, quilting, and book club. She adored her cat Samson and enjoyed hosting holiday parties for friends and family. Sheri’s specialty were her elegant tea parties. Her favorite place to walk and take in nature was at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales.
Sheri was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Florene (Rene) Settle; brother, Michael Settle; and her son, Aryc Mosher.
She is survived by her husband Arthur (Skip) Merritt; her son Mark Mosher of Lowell, Michigan, daughter in law Tammy, and their four daughters, Elizabeth, Sarah, Melissa and Kathy; her daughter Michelle Mosher Chrome of Mason, Michigan, son in law Matt and their four children Hannah, Jarod, Madeline and Sydney. She is also survived by her son in law Ken Morris of Atlanta, GA; her stepdaughter Beth Wightman of Stephens City, Virginia; and stepson Art Merritt of Richmond, Virginia.
