Mario Martinez Gomez, 91, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, after a life defined by devotion to his country and his family. Born on January 23, 1935, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, Mario was a man of strong character and deep love. At 19, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving his nation with honor for two years.
Several years later, while working at Norel Newspaper, Mario met the love of his life, Maria Teresa. Choosing a life together, Mario embraced Maria’s young children, Juan and Maria, as his own. The couple later blessed their blended family with two more daughters, Roselyn and Maritza. For most of his career, Mario worked as an independent taxi driver. This profession allowed him the flexibility to always be present for his family, ensuring he never missed a single milestone or special event. He was a dedicated provider, a loving father, and a devoted husband.
While Mario spent nearly a decade residing in the City of Maitland, he most recently lived in Winter Springs as his health declined. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon Martinez and Maximina Gomez, and his sister, Michaela Martinez. Mario’s legacy of love lives on through his beloved wife, Maria Teresa; his daughters, Roselyn and Maritza; and a large, adoring family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. May Mario rest in eternal peace. He will forever remain in our hearts and be deeply loved.
