Lucille M. Reese Pierce was born in Wilkes Barre, PA on 03/16/1932 and went to be with the Lord on 06/05/2026. She graduated from Forty Fort High School and later graduated magna cum laude from Wilkes College where she received the Outstanding Graduate Award.
She married her best friend, Richard (Dick) Pierce in 1952, had four wonderful children and lived in five states. While her children were young, Lucille volunteered as Room Mother, Junior Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School teacher. She later served in her church as a Deacon, member and chair of The Council of Ministries, member and officer of The United Methodist Women, tutor for the Volusia County Literacy Council, an active member and officer in several P.E.O. chapters and chair of the library at Bear Creek. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach and served at the Hospitality Desk and as a member of the Mary and Martha Ministry.
For many years Lucille worked on the bookmobile for Morris County Library in NJ. After moving to CT, she loved working as a library associate in the Southbury Public Library and retired from there in 1997.
Lucille and Dick enjoyed outdoor activities, especially swimming in the ocean and walking on the beach. She traveled through all 50 states and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing bridge and various games as well as visiting with friends and family.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Richard (Dick) Pierce and survived by four children; Deborah (Mark) Hannah, Linda (Jonnie Street) Pierce, Richard (Maryann) Pierce and Kay (Charlie) Wade, six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 336 South Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach, FL 32176 on Thursday, 07/23/2026 at 2:00 pm.
