Born on September 13, 1945, in Florida, she was the daughter of Lex Leon and Eva Lee Dodds. Lexa spent her career serving the students and families of Prince George's County Public Schools in Maryland as a speech therapist before continuing onto an administrative position as a paralegal in the Special Education Department. She was deeply committed to helping children receive the support and services they needed and took great pride in the meaningful work she did throughout her career.
After retiring, Lexa and her husband, John, embraced 13 years of RV traveling throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada with their dog, Captain Jack Black. Eventually, they made their home in Davenport, Florida, where Lexa became an active member of her community as the president of the Women's Club and later the Coffee Club. She found great joy in volunteering, gardening, painting, crafting, cooking, participating in her book club and theater club, and, most of all, spending time with the many friends who enriched her life. Her enthusiasm, creativity, and warm spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Lexa was a devoted wife to John Comstock, with whom she shared 37 wonderful years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Scott Dillon; her daughter, Cortney Dillon and her husband, Scott Reedy; her stepson, Christopher Comstock and his wife, Renee; and her stepdaughter, Cindy Comstock.
She was a cherished grandmother, affectionately known as "Mimi," to Kalee Comstock, Cael Comstock, Ethan Dillon, and Tessa Reedy. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Annis and Carol Sue Holdren, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
Her family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time.
