June A. Stewart, 94, died peacefully Saturday, January 13, 2024 at home in Oviedo, Florida. Born in Boston, Georgia in August, 1929, the daughter of a railroad executive, she spent her earliest years in south Georgia and then in Wilmington, NC. She married William E. Stewart in 1949 and spent many years moving to various locations in Florida, Georgia and Alabama as Bill grew his career with Sears.
After many years managing a home and three active children, June went to work for Today’s Woman in Tampa, Fl. She excelled in that work and went on to be a store manager in their stores in Tampa and Fort Myers, FL. She was honored as their top salesperson on several occasions.
The move to Fort Myers brought her and Bill closer to their oldest, Bill Jr and his family and she remained a resident of Fort Myers until 2017 when she relocated to her daughter’s home in Riverview, FL and subsequently to Oviedo, FL in 2020.
She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lovingly cared for her husband Bill, Sr through 46 years of marriage until his passing in 1995.
June was a devoted Christian and was always very active in the church. Her joy in life was her family and spending time with them, especially all her great grandchildren. She was well known for her cookie baking and making terrific birthday cakes for her children and grandchildren. She remembered everyone’s birthday and learned to use her Apple iphone and Apple watch to stay in touch with the far-flung family from California, Washington, Alabama and Florida. She loved dogs and had many beloved pets throughout her life. She was a true southern lady and loved her church and friends to whom she showed much kindness and generosity.
She is survived by her children Bill Stewart, Jr. (Barbara), Catherine Stewart McIntosh (Bruce), Marcia Stewart (Tom’s widow), and grandchildren, Todd and Brian Stewart, Travis and Ross McIntosh, & Lindsay (McIntosh) Roney, Tom Stewart, Jr. & Cary Stewart. She loved her sister-in-law, Daveanna Stewart and remained close to her. She was blessed with 12 great grandchildren and was able to spend many hours with three of her newest additions - precious little ones in Oviedo.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, parents, Harriet and Tom Andrews, and her youngest son, Tom Stewart.
June’s Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 AM on April 6, 2024, at Bay Area Church of Christ, 3905 Orange St., Mango, FL 33550.
