Jon Roy Sauter of Oviedo, Florida, passed into the presence of his loving Savior on April 25, 2026, at the age of 85. A celebration and memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 am at the First Methodist Church of Oviedo, 263 King Street, Oviedo, where Jon faithfully served the Lord.
Born November 2, 1940, in New Haven, Connecticut, Jon was the son of Alfred W. and Winona M. Sauter and the middle child of five. Raised on Spring Road in North Haven, he attended Montowese Elementary and North Haven High School. With steady determination and a sincere love of learning, Jon pursued his passion for electronics and graduated from WPI in 1962 with a degree in electrical engineering.
After several years with small local firms, Jon was recruited by Martin Marietta Corp. in 1970 and moved to central Florida. He devoted 29 years to Lockheed Martin, earning several meritorious awards through hard work, integrity, and dependable excellence. Even in retirement, his generous spirit remained active as he continued using his accounting skills to prepare the tax returns of many people—quietly offering practical help with the same honesty and care that marked every part of his life.
While serving as a volunteer fireman, Jon met the love of his life, Susan (Forand) Sauter, and they were to celebrate their 60th anniversary in June. Together, they built a life defined by devotion, loyalty, and a deep kindness that made others feel safe, welcomed, and valued. Jon’s warm humor and compassionate heart were a comfort to many, and his faithful service—at home, at church, and wherever he was needed—left a lasting example.
With Sue, Jon is survived by daughters Diane Armstrong (Gary) and Kelly Sauter; grandsons Stephen Griffin (Haley), Ryan Griffin (Courtney), Jacob Gunnoe, and Collin Burks; great-grandson Easton Griffin; brothers Alfred W. Sauter Jr. (Kathy), Gary Sauter, and Scott Sauter (Carol); and his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Jon will be remembered as a caring servant of all in need of his time, talent, and compassion. Beloved by his family and respected by all who knew him, he touched many lives and was a constant blessing to those he loved, whom he faithfully and lovingly protected.
