James Irwin Morris, affectionately known as "Jim" or "Jimmy" to many, passed away on March 5, 2025, in Casselberry, Florida, at the age of 85. Born on July 23, 1939, in Miami, Florida, he lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family, career, and community.
Jim graduated from Miami Jackson High School before continuing his education at Miami Dade Junior College. He later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Miami—a milestone he took great pride in achieving. His professional journey led him to the pool industry, where he established his own pool supply distribution company in the Orlando area. With his natural charisma and talent for sales, Jim thrived in the business and continued working as a salesman until retiring in his 50s. His ability to connect with people made him an exceptional salesman—he could sell just about anything with ease.
Beyond his career, Jim was deeply involved in various organizations. He served as Director and President of the National Spa and Pool Institute (NSPI) from 1975 to 1982 and was also President of the Lake Howell High School Band Parents Association during the 1979-80 school year. His leadership extended into his faith as well; he was an active member of the Methodist Church for most of his life, volunteering and serving on numerous committees.
A proud Army veteran, Jim dedicated nearly three years of service both in the United States and Germany. His time in the military instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and camaraderie that remained with him throughout his life.
Jim had a passion for fishing and found joy in sharing stories with anyone willing to listen. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, he had a knack for making people smile wherever he went. His outgoing personality made him a beloved presence among friends and family alike.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Morris; daughter Melody Lahman (Karl); son Jeffrey Morris (Deborah); sisters Calista Klima and Jeanette Eggleston; brothers Chet Morris (Sheri), George Morris Jr. (Brenda), and Jim Curry (Jeanne); four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
