

Gregory Alan Jones of Viera, Florida passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the age of 75. He was born on July 11, 1949 in Washington, D.C. where he grew up with his parents, four sisters and two brothers.
He joined the Army at the age of 19 and served in the Vietnam War. When he returned 3 years later, he worked in the Federal Police Force in Washington, D.C. before accepting a position with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Air Marshall in Newark, NJ. During his federal career he was promoted to Special Agent in Charge (SAIC). Upon his retirement from civil service in 2004, Greg and his wife Audrey relocated to Viera, Florida. From there, he started his own business, ‘Mr. J’s Ice Cream and More’ which became a family staple in the Viera Community.
Gregg was initiated into the Universal Order of the Masonic Brotherhood, Inc. as a Master Mason in 1991. He loved to fish and enjoyed the summers spent with his grandchildren, spoiling them with ice cream from Mr. J’s.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Arthur Jones, his mother, Adelaide Ruby Ashton Jones and his siblings, Patricia Ashton, Jane Elizabeth Chase, Arthur Samuel Jones and Micheal Eugene Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Chow-Jones, his sisters, Winifred Hembrey and Karen Thornton, his Brother-in-law Earl Hembrey, Sr., his sons Gregory Jones Jr and Carl Jones, his daughters, Venus Chow, Joi Mells and Leah Carter, his son-in-laws, Chino Carter and Wesley Mells, his grandchildren Gregory Jones III, Terrell Jones, Morgan Carter, Miles Carter, Cara Jones, Carl Jones Jr., Carly Jones, Ava Jones, Jacob Mells and Gabriela Mells, and his great grandchildren, Morgan Jones and Gino Jones.
The Jones Family is currently planning a celebration of life following a brief military burial ceremony. The celebration will be in Maryland in October 2024 and will honor the greatness of our beloved Gregory Alan Jones. Additional details are forthcoming.
