Obituary of Gerald E. Mower
Gerald “Jerry” Mower, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 2nd, 2022. Jerry and his family resided in Lakeland, FL. Jerry was born on October 19, 1938 and raised in Paulsboro, NJ. After graduating from Paulsboro High School in 1956, he joined the US Navy. After a few years of serving his country, he was honorably discharged for medical reasons and started his own business, Tower Radio Service. He serviced radio towers around South New Jersey and Philadelphia. In the mid-70s, he moved his family to Florida and started another career in selling Motorhomes at Foretravel and Buddy Gregg. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Freemasonry. Later in life, he became an active member at First Baptist Church at the Mall in Lakeland. He served as a deacon, a member of “Primetimers” and had his own ministry where he would take pictures and print them for the individuals being baptized. His hobbies & interests included building model aircraft, photography, and driving his Corvette. Jerry was predeceased by his parents (Helen and Norman Mower) and his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Lou. He is survived by his brother Elwood “Mickey” [Ruth]. He was a loving Father to Linda [Mark], Karen [Tony], and Helen. Proud Grandfather to Jonathan [Brooke], John [Nicole], Rick [Maggie], Lauren [Craig], Amanda [Dave], Katie [Chris]. He cherished his role as Great-Grandfather to Evie, Kellan, Brooklynn, Eli, Harper, Maddison, and Mason. He will be sadly missed by his niece, nephews and many friends. He will have a memorial service with a military burial at a later date and interred with his wife. Our family wanted to announce we will have a Memorial Service on January 20th, 11:00am at the Lakes Church in Lakeland (Formerly First Baptist Church at the Mall). A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland, FL. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Mower family.
