
He was born on April 16,1935 in Mazeppa, MN.
He attended Mazeppa schools and graduated with a Bachelors degree from college.
Gerald served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Aviation Mechanic. After serving in the air force he continued to enjoy his life long passion working in commercial aviation industry'
He volunteered for the Fire department, Usher/Greeter at his church, men’s homeless shelter and Aviation Museum for more than 25 years. Gerald received the Presidential volunteer award for his many volunteer hours of service in his community. He was a member in good standing with the American Legion.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; Caroline Hoffman (Schumacher) & Theodore Hoffman; and his four siblings. Also preceded by his former spouse Evelyn Hoffman (Sauke) and his son Michael Hoffman.
He is survived by his spouse, Donna Hoffman (Cates); His children, Mickey Hoffman, Robin Becker (Hoffman). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to offer our heart felt thanks to the many caregivers, who helped our father during his time on this earth. In lieu of gifts or flowers please make a charitable donation. Private services will be held at a later date.
One childhood memory of Gerald is as a voracious reader. He once read the complete encyclopedia from A to Z cover to cover .
