He was born on May 16, 1938, in Elkhart, Indiana, the son of Daniel and Helen Neff. Gary grew up on Baldwin Lake in Union, Michigan, and graduated from Tri-State College with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He enjoyed a long career as a Mechanical Engineer with Lockheed Martin (formerly Martin Marietta), from which he retired.
Gary’s personal life included a strong faith and hope in his personal savior, Jesus Christ. Gary cherished traveling the world with his wife and best friend, Betty. He also enjoyed tubing down the Chattahoochee River, spoiling his grandchildren, and sharing Tuesday morning breakfasts with the “Old Buzzards.” He was well known for his kindness, his wonderful sense of humor, and being “the smartest guy in the class”
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Betty Lee Neff; son, Todd Neff (Debbie) of Camden, South Carolina; daughter, Tina Chatterton of Oviedo, Florida; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Helen Neff.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Worship Center at CrossLife Church, 45 East Broadway Street, Oviedo, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gary’s memory to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
