Enrique Amador

Julio Enrique Amador of New York City, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in the heart of New York City in 1930, Enrique lived a rich and adventurous life that spanned continents, careers, and countless cherished memories with family and friends.

At just 18, his adventurous spirit led him and a close friend on a daring motorcycle journey from New York to California—an early glimpse into a life defined by courage, independence, and curiosity.

Enrique served his country with pride, offering honest and faithful service in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1952, carrying with him the values of discipline and integrity that would shape his life in the years to come. In his twenties, Enrique created an import-export company and named it “American Enterprises”. He asked his brother-in-law Gustavo to join him in the business as a partner. Their enterprise flourished, securing contracts with the U.S. State Department to transport household effects between the continental United States and South America and European Countries. He would later go on to buy a commercial 3-story building in Baltimore where he had his business and lived, which, after being damaged by fire, he impressively rebuilt with his own hands—a testament to his resilience and determination. In his forties, Enrique made a bold move to Fuengirola, Spain to sell timeshare properties, and a few years later to Mallorca, Spain, where he founded Mallorca Properties, a successful real estate company. He embraced life on the island for many years before returning to the United States to be closer to his mother and sister in Orlando, Florida, where he resided for the rest of his life.

No matter where he called home as an adult —Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Fuengirola, Spain, Mallorca, Spain or Orlando—Enrique had a gift for bringing people together. He delighted in hosting friends and family, creating lively gatherings filled with delicious food, music, and laughter. He was a passionate traveler, a sports enthusiast, and an art lover. Remarkably active well into his later years, he continued playing tennis and riding his bike into his late 80s.

Enrique is survived by his beloved wife of 9 years, Stella; his six children, Brad, Linda, Susan, Douglas, David, and Paula; and his ten grandchildren: Lori, William, Jenna, Sophie, Ben, Camilo, Andrea, Lucas, Daniel, and Jeremy.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Enrique’s life at a Memorial Service on Wednesday, June 18, at 2:45 p.m., at the National Cremation & Burial Society, 7565 Red Bug Lake Rd, Oviedo, FL 32765. Visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Enrique’s life was one of service, adventure, and love—a legacy that will live on in all who knew him.

Nacido en el corazón de Nueva York en 1930, Enrique vivió una vida plena y aventurera que abarcó continentes, carreras y un sinfín de recuerdos entrañables junto a familiares y amigos.

A los 18 años, su espíritu inquieto lo llevó, junto a un amigo cercano, a emprender un audaz viaje en motocicleta desde Nueva York hasta California—una muestra temprana de una vida marcada por la valentía, la independencia y la curiosidad.

Enrique sirvió a su país con orgullo, prestando un servicio honesto y leal en la Marina de los Estados Unidos. Fue dado de baja honorablemente en 1952, llevándose consigo los valores de disciplina e integridad que marcarían su vida en los años siguientes. En sus veintes, Enrique fundó una empresa de importación y exportación que llamó American Enterprises, e invitó a su cuñado Gustavo a unirse como socio. La empresa prosperó, asegurando contratos con el Departamento de Estado de los EE. UU. para transportar artículos del hogar entre los Estados Unidos continentales y países de Sudamérica y Europa.

Más adelante, compró un edificio comercial de tres pisos en Baltimore, donde estableció su negocio y también vivió. Luego de que el edificio sufriera un incendio, Enrique lo reconstruyó con sus propias manos—un testimonio de su fortaleza y determinación.

En sus cuarentas, Enrique se mudó valientemente a Fuengirola, España, para dedicarse a la venta de propiedades vacacionales, y unos años después se trasladó a Mallorca, donde fundó Mallorca Properties, una exitosa agencia inmobiliaria. Disfrutó de la vida en la isla durante muchos años antes de regresar a los Estados Unidos para estar cerca de su madre y su hermana en Orlando, Florida, donde residió hasta el final de su vida.

Sin importar dónde viviera en su vida adulta—Baltimore, Washington D.C., Fuengirola, Mallorca u Orlando—Enrique tenía un don especial para reunir a las personas. Disfrutaba profundamente de recibir a familiares y amigos, organizando reuniones animadas llenas de buena comida, música y risas. Fue un viajero apasionado, entusiasta del deporte y amante del arte. Sorprendentemente activo incluso en sus años avanzados, siguió jugando al tenis y montando bicicleta hasta finales de sus 80 años.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa desde hace 9 años, Stella; sus seis hijos, Brad, Linda, Susan, Douglas, David y Paula; y sus diez nietos: Lori, William, Jenna, Sophie, Ben, Camilo, Andrea, Lucas, Daniel y Jeremy.

La familia invita a sus seres queridos a celebrar la vida de Enrique en un servicio memorial el miércoles 18 de junio a las 2:45 p.m., en la National Cremation & Burial Society, ubicada en 7565 Red Bug Lake Rd, Oviedo, FL 32765. La visita con la familia comenzará a las 2:00 p.m.
