February 1, 1934 – June 28, 2026
Eleanor "Ellie" Salsgiver of Oviedo, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, at the age of 92.
Born on February 1, 1934, in Republic, Pennsylvania, Ellie grew up there alongside her many siblings, surrounded by the close-knit family and community she always held dear. A woman of deep faith and a generous heart, she shared her love of music by singing in the choir at many churches over the years. Her compassion reached far beyond the pews—she devoted countless hours to volunteering in rest homes, bringing comfort, companionship, and a gentle smile to all she served.
After the passing of her beloved husband, Raymond Salsgiver, Ellie made her home with her daughter Diane and son-in-law Peter Porras Jr., who served in the United States Navy and moved among various assignments until his retirement. For 29 cherished years, Ellie shared her life with Diane, Peter, and their two children, filling their home with love until her final days.
Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Mary (Leja) Kerosky; her devoted husband, Raymond Salsgiver; and her nine siblings: Violet, Walter, Anna, Joseph, Frank, Thaddeus, Raymond, Martha, and John.
She is lovingly survived by her four children and their spouses Janet Paul; Daniel and Barbara Salsgiver; Diane and Peter Porras Jr.; and Martha and Lee Smith. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Cullen Bryant, Allison Bryant, Nicholas Salsgiver, Douglas Salsgiver, Lauren Smith, Hannah Smith, Catherine Porras, and Raymond Porras; along with her two great-grandchildren, Mason and Parker Salsgiver.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses of Amedisys and Vitas for the care and compassion they showed their loved one in her final days.
Eleanor will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her warmth, faith, and enduring kindness will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
