I miss this woman soo much. I don't know if I will ever not miss our friend. What a wonderful, caring human being. Sleep on and take your REST, Doreen.

I am reminded every day about something on which I need to consult Doreen.  Her wisdom. counsel, and consideration guided me through those thorny issues. Even when we did not always agree, with Doreen understanding was the goal. Over the many years, Doreen and I worked together on the Child Care Board and the League of Women Voters Board and committees. All of us, especially the children, have benefited from her friendship and care. I miss my mentor and friend, Doreen.

Met Doreen one day while walking through our neighborhood when I stopped to admire and photograph her yellow Plumeria. I was just studying watercolor at the time and when I finished my painting I made a copy for Doreen. She was so pleased. The original painting hangs in a gold frame in my make-shift studio as a constant reminder of this beautiful lady. My sympathy to her family and loved ones.

I met Doreen through a mutual friend at a LWV luncheon.  Although I did not know her for long her reputation preceded her.  She was dedicated and cared for others her whole life.  And tried and did make a difference.  She will be missed.


She will be missed. Ms Doreen was a great friend, Mentor and Leader.  Gone but not forgotten. You Legacy will live on in our county and hearts.

Doreen was so very special to me. When I worked as a counselor and assistant camp director at Riverpoint Summer Camp, she was incredibly patient and so much fun. Mary Beth Michaels (the camp director) and I were very young and a bit wild. We would break rules (usually not on purpose) and Doreen would gently remind us of the appropriate procedures....then giggle and tell us we were great. She came to camp at least once every week and immersed herself in whatever was happening, even the Gong Show!! We would try to get her to gong contestants and she just couldn’t do it. “That would hurt a girl’s feelings”.   I spent three summers at Riverpoint and those memories are some of my favorite. Doreen trusted us, empowered us, and loved us, and for that I will be forever grateful.  Rest easy Doreen. I will carry you in my heart. 

It is with a heavy heart that I send my condolences to Doreen's daughters, Helen and Jennifer. I will miss your mother more than you will ever know,  She will always occupy a special place in my heart. Sleep on Doreen and take your rest. I see you were successful in "getting Tony Dutton and Vera Walker away from blocking the pearly gates."
