Constance Theresa "Connie" (Galas) Chaffee passed away on July 3, 2026 in Orlando, Florida. She was 81 years old.
Born on May 6, 1945, in Ludlow, Massachusetts, she graduated from Chicopee High School and lived much of her life in Chicopee and South Hadley, Massachusetts before re-locating to Florida. She worked for Mass Mutual, The Wall Street Journal and the Springfield Science Museum, among other employers in western Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Mitchell Galas, her beloved husband, William "Bill" Chaffee; her sister, Sandra (Galas) Blais and brothers, James Galas and Robert Galas.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Jennifer) Benoit of Orlando, Florida, and Jay (Jenny) Benoit of Davie, Florida; her grandson, Jacob Benoit of Davie, Florida; along with extended family members and many dear friends.
Connie and Bill shared a wonderful life together and, for many years, enjoyed dividing their time between Massachusetts and Naples, Florida, as snowbirds before eventually making Naples their permanent home. They treasured spending their days on the golf course, relaxing at the beach, sharing dinners with friends, and embracing the Florida lifestyle they loved.
An avid golfer, Connie's passion for the game was evident throughout her adult life. She celebrated the rare achievement of making three holes in one over her years of playing — a source of great pride and many happy memories.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life.
To honor and remember Connie, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the https://events.alz.org/fundraisers/kevinbenoit/in-memory-of-constance---conn
