Obituary of Charles "Chuck" Curtis Corbitt
In Loving Memory of Charles “Chuck” Corbitt, 80 Charles Corbitt of Lakeland passed away Friday, November 11, 2022. He was born in Douglas, Georgia on February 25, 1942, moved to Lakeland in the late 1940’s, and graduated from Lakeland High School in 1960. Out of high school, Charles managed an A&P Grocery Store, but spent most of his career managing furniture and appliance stores, and worked more than 20 years for Badcock Home Furniture as Store Manager. For fun, he loved spending time fishing and camping at his favorite spot, Lake Bonnet Village in Sebring, Florida. He spent more than 30 years camping there any chance he could with his family. He loved to get up early and go fishing with his wife on the lake. A little later in life, he found a love of country line dancing and even taught classes with his wife for many years. After retirement, he loved growing vegetables and tinkering in the yard and he always had a list of projects he was working on that kept him busy. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vera Corbitt and his sister, JoAnn Corbitt. Charles is survived by his wife, Linda Corbitt, daughter, Denise Bryan, grandson, Justin Bryan, his sisters, Barbara Chastain, Beverly Lasseter (Michael) and nephew, Brian Corbitt. He also loved his dogs, Simba and Wally and treated them like children. There are no events planned, as he did not wish to have services. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.nationalcremation.com/location/oviedo for the Corbitt family.
