Beverly May (Foster) Faber, born February 15, 1942, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Leanora “Lola” (Hall) Wright and Earl Le Roy Foster, was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mentor, and the heart of the Faber family.
Beverly immigrated to the United States from Jamaica in 1958 and built a life defined by strength, determination, service, and love. In 1963, she married Albert E. Faber Jr., and in 1972, they relocated to Central Islip, New York, with their three sons: Patrick, who preceded her in death in 2022; Gavin Sr.; and Albert III.
To her family, Beverly was more than a matriarch, she was the centerpiece who raised generations of Fabers and was the woman family and friends turned to for guidance, honesty and love. She had a gift for making people feel cared for while lightening our spirits with her sharp wit and unforgettable sense of humor.
Beverly was also a trailblazer professionally. In 1974, while raising three young boys, she began a remarkable 30-year career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). She advanced from teletypist to Flight Data Specialist and ultimately to Computer Systems Specialist and supervisor in Technical Operations.
Her commitment to service extended well beyond her career. Beverly served as an Equal Employment Opportunity Counselor and Investigator and was an early member of the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees, where she held several leadership roles and helped provide scholarships for young people. Her dedication to creating opportunities for others and serving her community was recognized in 2019 with an NAACP Trailblazer honor.
After retiring from the FAA and relocating to Deltona, Florida, in 2004, Beverly remained deeply involved in her community. She served on the boards of her local library, her homeowners association, and the African American Museum of the Arts in DeLand, Florida.
Yet Beverly’s greatest legacy was the family she nurtured.
She leaves behind her sons, Gavin Sr. and Albert III; her grandchildren, Pfashema, Gavin Jr., Marcellus, Austin, and Alyx; and her great-grandchildren, Zoey, Amari, and Josiah, along with extended family and countless loved ones.
Beverly was our grandmother, our matriarch, our trailblazer, and one of the great pillars of our family.
Her laughter, wisdom, stories, and love will live on through the generations she helped shape. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
