Sharol Lee Liepe, a spirited and loving presence, was born on July 22, 1949, in Dearborn, Michigan, to Charles R. and Shirley M. Kalbfleisch. Raised in a nurturing home, she flourished alongside her siblings—Barbara, Robert, James, and William—imbued with the values of compassion and generosity that she carried throughout her life. Her parents, Charles and Shirley, and her little brother William "Billy" Kalbfleisch preceded her, leaving behind cherished memories that Sharol held close to her heart.
A proud graduate of Dearborn High School in 1967, Sharol pursued higher education with vigor, earning her bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University in December of 1988. Her passion for learning and teaching led her to a fulfilling career with Dearborn Public Schools, where she began her journey in 1988. Sharol discovered her true calling as an educator, initially teaching 6th grade at Henry Ford Elementary, then imparting scientific wisdom at Stout, and finally nurturing young minds in 2nd grade at Duvall until her much-deserved retirement in 2016.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Sharol was deeply involved in her Pine Lakes community and a member of the New Testament Baptist Church. Her life was enriched by her love for family, golf, sunshine, and her unwavering faith. She was known for her giving spirit and her wonderfully eccentric demeanor, always lighting up a room with her infectious energy and unmistakable presence.
Sharol's legacy is lovingly carried on by her children, Bruce Donald (Julie) and Tamala May "Tammy" (Josh), along with her grandchildren—Aurora (McKenzie), Bruce III, Quintin & Xaiver Liepe, Carlie (Smithey), and Alexis Carter —and her great-grandchildren, Luna and Nova Smithey. Her family was the center of her universe, and she delighted in every moment spent with them, sharing her love for games, reading, and spreading happiness.
In honoring Sharol's life, the family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice staff for their compassionate care. To celebrate her vibrant spirit, a gathering will be held in the summer sunshine of Michigan, near her birthday, to share stories and memories that encapsulate the essence of her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Sharol's memory may do so with donations to a charity of their choice, reflecting her enduring legacy of kindness and generosity. Her family invites all who knew her to remember Sharol as a beacon of joy and a source of inspiration, whose presence touched the lives of many.
