

Dr. Roy Vincent Green, 82, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on December 25, 2025, at HealthPark Medical Center. He was born on January 2, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the first born son of Stafford Freemont “Monty” Green and Martha “Marty” Carlock Green.
Roy grew up in Washington, Indiana, where he graduated from Washington High School as Salutatorian. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, followed by a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1969. His dedication to pediatric dentistry led him to the University of North Carolina, where he was awarded a Morehead Fellowship and earned a Master of Science degree in Pediatric Dentistry in 1975.
While in college, Roy met the love of his life, Nancy Lee Simmons. They were married on August 20, 1966, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and shared 59 years of marriage filled with love, hard work, adventure, and travel.
He began his career with the US Public Health Service commissioned officer as a dentist in US Virgin Islands. In 1975, Roy and Nancy moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where he established Barkley Circle Dental Center, a pediatric dental practice that served the community for more than three decades. Dr. Green retired in 2008 after a distinguished career marked by professional leadership and service. He served as President of the Virgin Islands Dental Association, President of the Florida Association of Pediatric Dentists, and President of the Florida Association of Dentistry for Children.
In his youth, he achieved quickly the rank of Eagle Scout, Scout Camp Counselor and later volunteered on Eagle Scout Board of Review teams. Deeply committed to his community, Roy joined the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South in 1976. He volunteered his time and talents with ECHO Farm and the South Fort Myers Food Pantry, and he served on the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Day Care Center and Project Dentist’s Care. Roy and Nancy are long time members of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fort Myers.
In his relaxing moments Roy loved boating, fishing and travel with family and friends. He had a willingness to fix just about anything that needed attention. Roy tackled many challenges with gusto, self-discipline and intelligence.
Roy is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy (Simmons) Green; their loving daughter, Laura (Kevin) Shrable; and two grandchildren, Brett and Emilee Shrable, all of Bella Vista, Arkansas. He is also survived by his brother, Steve (Jane) Green of Royal Oaks, California, and his sister, Ellen (Mike) McKittrick of Washington, Indiana.
He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Angela Green, Eric Green, Andrew McKittrick, and Maggie (Matt Haynie) McKittrick, as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews, Ryan Rosenbaum, Troy Rosenbaum, and Jenna Rosenbaum.
Dr. Roy Vincent Green will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his profession, and his community, and for the kindness and compassion he showed to all whose lives he touched.
The family is planning a celebration of life ceremony February 20th at 2 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fort Myers, 13411 Shire Ln. Fort Myers, FL 33912.
