

Philip John Fyten was born May 14, 1947 in Columbia Heights, MN to Walter & Julia (Cooper) Fyten. After the family moved to the Buckman, MN area, Phil attended school in Buckman and then graduated from Memorial High School in 1965. After serving 3 years in the Army in Germany, Phil returned to the Pierz area and worked in manufacturing in St. Cloud and as a mechanic in the Pierz area. He then started his career with the US Postal Service as an automation technician and later as a manager.
During his career with the Postal Service he lived in White Bear Lake and Sioux Falls, SD. After retirement, Phil moved to Cape Coral, FL., where among other things he enjoyed traveling, fishing and watching Twins spring baseball in Fort Meyers. Phil was very active in local politics as well as veteran’s issues.
Phil was the type of person that excelled at many endeavors whether it would be home remodeling, automotive repairs, gardening, electronics, etc.
Phil is survived by his spouse, Mona of Cape Coral; his daughters Tammy (Sean) Walsh of Coon Rapids and Nancy (Erik) Gohl of Monticello. Grandchildren Blake & Breanna Walsh, Grace, Gabriel and Samuel Gohl. He is also survived by his siblings Dennis of Ramsey, Paul (Marilyn) of Fridley, Walter Jr. (Karen) of Randall, Elizabeth Krahl of St. Louis, MO, Monica Dawson of Savage, Steve (Michele) of Ramsey, Mark (Stephanie) of Pierz and sister-in-laws Judy Fyten and Betty Fyten both of Pierz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerome and Ronald, both of Pierz, MN.
