

Norman Albert Landis Jr. of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Bay Village, Ohio, passed away June 10, 2026, at the age of 93. The youngest of the late Edna and Norman Albert Landis’s 6 children, born on September 6, 1932, “Junior” grew up on a farm in Berlin, Pennsylvania. After high school he worked as a lumberjack for a local lumber company. Norman went on to receive an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Indiana State Teachers College in Pennsylvania and then a Masters Degree in Mathematics and Education from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. Norm went on to serve in the US Army stateside during the early years of his career. He worked at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in Cleveland, Ohio as a computer programer. On December 26, 1962 he married Gynyth Anita Cummins at Bay Presbyterian Church in Bay Village, Ohio. Norm retired after 33 years with NASA to Fort Myers, where he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for more than 15 years. Norm enjoyed boating, fishing, and other family activities at his cottage on Kelly’s Island in Ohio, as well as traveling the world with Gynyth. Norman’s life was an amazing example of serving and caring for others. He served through Kiwanis, Habitat for Humanity and most notably provided loving round the clock care for his wife Gynyth for many, many years. He spent the last nine years with the Cypress Cove community, where he was a faithful member of the Healthy Pursuits class as well as an eagle eyed lookout and reporter of alligator sightings on his daily walks around the grounds. He enjoyed getting to know people and made some dear friends at Cypress Cove. Norm is preceded in death by parents Edna and Norman Albert Landis, siblings, Ernest (Champ) Landis, Robert Landis, Hazel Knepper, William Landis, and Jean (Betty), beloved wife Gynyth, and is survived by daughters Lisa Landis, Lori Fallon (Chris), and Lucy Byrd (Andy), grandchildren Preston Gladd, Wesley Gladd, Emily Landis (Boyd Peete), Anna Fallon, Ryan Fallon, Ashleigh Byrd (Aspen), Matthew Byrd (Kara), Katie Cormany (Noah), and great grandchildren, Astra Gladd and Cordelia Gladd.
