

Dr. Michael Francis Geraghty, 86, of Bonita Springs, Florida, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, slipped away peacefully on January 24, 2026. He was born on February 12, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York to Michael Geraghty and Mary Wynn.
Surviving is his wife of 26 years, Sally Geraghty; children, William Thomas Geraghty (Marcy) and Lorraine Marie Geraghty. He was preceded in death by siblings, by Avori St. Michel and Jane Geraghty.

Dr. Geraghty was involved with the National and Collier County Chapter of the Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Project Help – Crisis Intervention Center and Hotline & Collier County mental Health Association Inc. He was a member of the American Psychology Association, Florida Association of Alcohol & Drug Abuse, The National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council.
One of his favorite Literary figures was Goethe who wrote “whatever you can do or dream you can do – begin it boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” Michael believed in this philosophy and used it when he established his many mental health centers.
Dr. Geraghty acquired Life, Death & Transition Training with the Elizabeth Kubler Ross center in Virginia. He was director of the David Lawrence Mental Health Center, Naples, Florida from 1974-1979.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at National Cremation & Burial Society, 3453 Hancock Bridge Parkway, North Fort Myers, Florida 33903.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the David Lawrence Center, Project Help, or The Shelter for abused women and children.
