Born on October 10, 1929, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Lorraine lived a life defined by faith, family, kindness, and quiet strength. She spent 28 wonderful years in Galien, Michigan, where she raised her family and enjoyed a rewarding career as a physical educator before spending the next 46 years in Southwest Florida. There, she embraced the warm Florida sunshine, time on the water, golf, a lifelong passion for bridge, enduring friendships, and welcoming family and friends into her home.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank James.
Lorraine leaves behind the loving family who meant everything to her: her children, in a-birth order, Maureen (Bobby, who preceded Lorraine in death), Debbie (Brad), Michele (Jon), Charles (Stephanie), and Jeff; 13 cherished grandchildren; 24 adored great-grandchildren; and 2 precious great-great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy was watching her family grow through each new generation. Whether celebrating holidays, hosting family gatherings, or simply enjoying one another’s company, Lorraine created a home filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Lorraine’s Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. Her gentle spirit, generosity, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family were evident in everything she did. She will be remembered for her warm smile, welcoming heart, steadfast faith, and unconditional love for all.
A Catholic service celebrating Lorraine’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Columbkille Catholic Parish in Fort Myers, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida, 3830 Evans Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33901, or online at cac-swfl.org
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
