Lloyd Kelsey, whom I lovingly called "The Music Man," passed away Sunday, September 13th, at 6:00 am.
From an early age, Lloyd always loved music. When we moved to Tara Woods in 2000, he wanted to become involved with the Sound and Light Committee. We played CDs on Friday nights for everyone to enjoy, and we called them our Fun Dances. Lloyd loved all kinds of music and was always happy to take requests.
The Tara Woods family is what brought us here. We also showed FREE monthly movies at the Clubhouse. I was known as "The Popcorn Lady," and I loved every minute of it!
The Sound and Light Committee is made up of very dedicated people who help with so many groups, shows, and presentations. They contribute throughout the year, working behind the scenes with the sound and lighting in the Clubhouse. They donate many hours and meet every challenge that comes their way. Lloyd was proud to be part of that.
Over the last few years, Lloyd's health declined. It was very difficult for him to literally walk away from his life's love of music. The younger, newer residents did not have the privilege of knowing Lloyd, but those of us who did will always remember him and the joy he brought through music.
I have had the wonderful privilege of being Lloyd's wife, friend, and music assistant for 68 years. He will be deeply missed.
I was told that there will be a place for him in Heaven where he can play his music again - with our boys. I find comfort in thinking of him there.
God bless you all.
And please, remember to tell your loved ones every day, before saying goodnight, that you love them. Lloyd did that until he could no longer speak.
We are going to miss him greatly.
Carolyn Kelsey
A funeral mass will be held for Lloyd on Wednesday October 21st, at 11 am at St. Therese Catholic Church, located at 20115 N Tamiami Trl, North Fort Myers, FL 33903.
