He was born October 23, 1941, son to the late Guy W. and Mabel E. (Hassinger) Klinger. On July 25, 1975, he married his better half and best friend Ruth Ann (Smith) Klinger who survives.
John retired after 33 years with the United Parcel Service and never lost touch with his fellow drivers who affectionately called him “OJ”. The following sentiment was shared when they heard the news of OJ’s passing:
OJ always had a "Hey brother, how are you doing?". He was a good, loyal Teamster driving the brown truck. He did the job the right way. His customers always came first. He was always ready to throw you a zinger but could take it if you gave him one back.
John was a member of Lafayette Lodge No.194 of the Masons for more than 47 years and a lifelong member of the Dauntless Hook and Ladder Fire Company. He enjoyed growing tomatoes with his right-hand man Dave, playing shuffleboard and retirement in Florida with Ruthie.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by daughter Gail Klinger.
Surviving in addition to his wife, is daughter Kristine (Klinger) Bealmear (John); granddaughter Terre Ann (Fabricatore) Watling; grandsons Brandon Bealmear and Connor Bealmear, all of Fredericksburg, VA; great-grandsons Liam Bealmear, Benjamin Watling, and River Bealmear; brother Timothy Klinger of Sunbury, PA and sister Debra (Klinger) Lehman (George) of Shamokin Dam, PA.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in honor of John be sent to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
