

Clyde Jonathan Casey was born in Wellford, West Virginia to Noble Dean Casey and Cora Smith on September 17, 1930. He went to elementary school through high school in Clendenin, West Virginia. He married Patricia Louise Steorts on September 27, 1952 in Clay, West Virginia. Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and wife, the love of his life, Patricia (Pat) Louise Casey (August 4, 2018).
He attended Santa Fe College in California. In West Virginia Clyde had an Insurance and Real Estate business in Clendenin, WV before he and Pat became Directors of the Union Mission Children’s Home in Kanawha City, WV for 3 years. He and Pat moved the family from West Virginia to Fort Myers, FL in June 1968. In Florida Clyde worked mainly in Sales. He was a manager and buyer for the Shell Factory for 22 years. In the mid 1970’s he and Pat purchased 50 acres in Whittier, NC which they developed over the years naming it “Casey’s Mountain”. They enjoyed many summers and falls there, building several speck cabins then their final retirement home. Clyde & Pat were very active members of the First Baptist Church (now City Gate Church) in Ft. Myers. He and Pat served on many committees and were instrumental in starting the Homeless Mission program there. Clyde and Pat were devout Christians and lived their lives serving the Lord and raised their 3 daughters with love, ethics and morals befitting a Christian and leading by example.
Clyde is survived by his 3 daughters - Brenda L. Stewart (John), Patricia A. Casey (Allen Tucker) and Melody G. Grant (Chuck); Grandsons - Charles J. Taylor (Jody), John “Casey” Stewart (Rachel), Chaz Grant (Taylor), Marshall Grant (Hope), Garner Grant (Skylar), Jonathan Grant and Chloe Kipp, along with 9 great grandchildren –
Andrew Taylor, Margaret (Maggie) Taylor, Zane Stewart, Stella Stewart, Nash Stewart, Zeal Grant, Charlotte (Lottie) Grant, Marlin Grant and Nova Clark.
Arrangements are made by the National Cremation Society and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
