C. Ronald Bach

C. Ronald Bach, “Ron”, passed away peacefully on August 5th, 2026, just shy of his 98th birthday. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he spent his childhood in Lyndhurst, NJ including starting school in a historic one room schoolhouse. After graduating at the age of 16, he attended Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT) where he was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society. He played varsity basketball, and started the Glee Club where singing became a theme he enjoyed his entire life. He graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. In the fall of the same year, he moved to the Grand Coulee Dam in Washington where he became the planner for the worker’s town.

In 1951, he was inducted into the US Army where he was stationed stateside for surveying work with munitions in support of the Korean War. He was discharged in 1953, and spent 5 years in the Reserves. In 2024, he was invited to an Honor Flight with other veterans to tour the Washington D.C. monuments.

Following the war, he joined the engineering firm of Wallace and Tiernan (W&T) in their Specialized Instrument Products Group. He was a 70-year member of the Instrument Society of America (ISA), and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Chemical Society, Public Power Plants. He attended night school at NCE for an MS in Management Engineering. Further career positions were at Beckman Instruments, Detroit Controls, Pennwalt and SS White from where he retired in 1987. In retirement he moved from NJ to Florida, first living in Naples where he designed the golf clubhouse at Imperial and then moved to Shell Point.

At Shell Point he ran the Saturday morning informative forum for 5 years. He volunteered or assisted in the Computer Learning Center, Health Advisory Board, golf club, Shell Point singers, capital campaigns, Vespers (at the Pavilion), Parkinson’s education and support and the Memory facility.

He was predeceased by his wife, Johanna Bach Schooley (June 8, 2010) and his sister Carol Bergman. He is survived by his children and grandchildren: Robin Bach Vogel (husband Chris, daughter Keira), Heather Bach (husband Larry Goldberg), Randy Bach (wife Amanda, daughter Rachel and son Nathan). He is also survived by Barbara Cox with whom he shared over a decade of love and companionship.
