

Sandra “Sandy” Olevsky was born on July 17, 1960 in Chicago, IL. She passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025 in Northbrook, IL surrounded by friends and family. She was the daughter of the late Bernice, nee Spiegel and Jack Olevsky.
She is survived by her wife of 29 years, Mary Beth Kosa and her beloved fur baby, Eli; her sister, Robin (the late David) Channon, her sister-in-law, Denise (the late Denis) Tatgenhorst; nephews: Aaron (Leah) Channon, Benjamin (Mary) Channon, Dustin Tatgenhorst and Dana Tatgenhorst; her aunt, Yevette (the late Marvin) Lewis; and cousins, Edmund (Debora) Lewis and Jolie (David) Rubin.
Sandy worked for 32 years for Lurie’s Children’s Hospital, formerly known as Children’s Memorial Hospital, as a respiratory therapist first in the PICU and then in the CCU since 2012. She also assisted the PTO Committee as a charge therapist until she became ill in April of 2024. Through the years Sandy has touched the lives of countless children, families, and friends.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life Sunday, August 10, 2025 from 1:30-5:30 pm at the Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago, 7574 Lincoln Avenue, Skokie, IL, 60077.
Memorial donations may be made to her family or to the charity of your choice in Sandy’s honor.
