OBITUARY
Margery A. Gibson
February 20, 1927 – November 14, 2022

Margery A. Gibson passed away November 14, 2022, in South Barrington, Illinois.
Margery was born February 20, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Alexander and Emma Hickey. She was united in marriage to Emmett F. Gibson January 15, 1955, in Maywood, Illinois. He preceded her in death July 13, 1958.
When she was a child, Margery sang in many choirs and performed a duet with her sister on the WGN Radio “Barn Dance” in the late 1930s. Margery worked as a salesperson for many years at Wm. A. Lewis in Hillside, Illinois. She also worked for many years at Delta Airlines, retiring to Sarasota, Florida, from the Exec Desk in Schaumburg, Illinois, in 1982. Margery loved to travel and especially loved the island of Hawaii. She also loved soap operas, Wheel of Fortune, orchids, putting her feet up on the couch and reading the paper, and reading Danielle Steele novels. Margery was a member of the First United Church in Maywood, Illinois, for many years.
She was a source of happiness to the end of her life, always quick with a smile and a knowing look. She loved music and loved singing at any opportunity. Being surrounded by family and friends was her greatest pleasure. And she never lost her desire to dress up and “look presentable”. Margery will be remembered by her friends for her love and open heart and remembered by her family for her undying devotion to their care and well-being.
She is survived by her children: Stephen Gibson and his girlfriend Lisa Hull of Geneva, IL, Alex Gibson and his girlfriend Mary Hendrickson of Hoffman Estates, IL, and Kenn (Elizabeth) Nelson of Livonia, MI, from her first husband, Donn Nelson; nieces: Joyce Landry of Clearwater, FL, Ruth Niebuhr of Mission Viejo, CA, and Alexis Nicoletta of Doraville, GA; nephews, Paul Daniels of Muncie, IN and Glen Landry of Cumming, GA; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Mae Hickey; her father, Alexander B. Hickey; her sister, Beulah Daniels; her four brothers: Edward Landry, Earle Landry, Howard Landry, and Allen Landry; and her daughter-in-law, Ann Gibson, nee Lenihan.
The family also wishes to thank the caregivers and staff at Encore Memory Care in South Barrington, Illinois, and Gentiva Health Services for their care.
As Margery requested, there will be no memorial service or funeral.
