It is with deep love and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of Kirsten Ellison, nee Andersen, a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose life was marked by creativity, kindness, and devotion to family and friends.
Born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1943 to the late Ella and Preban, she was the cherished sister of Jan (the late Marianne) Velin. In the 1960s, she courageously moved to the United States, where she built a life filled with purpose and joy. In 1968, she married her husband, Earl, beginning a partnership that would span decades.
She was a loving mother to Eric (Jana), and a proud grandmother to Mila and Matthew, whose lives she enriched with her constant presence, encouragement, and affection. Her role as a mother and grandmother was one she embraced wholeheartedly, attending countless sporting events, music performances, and dance recitals, with enthusiasm and pride.
She was a treasured in-law to Sandy and Rich Ellison, and a loyal friend to the late Mary Carter and Loretta Merrill, and many others whose lives were brightened by her warmth and love for shopping or meeting for lunch.
In her professional career, she worked as a draftsperson, mastering both traditional and computer-aided 2D drafting. Her precision and dedication were evident in every one of her projects. Upon retirement, she found joy in working at Carson’s in the dress department, a role that perfectly suited her love of fashion, organization, and connecting with others.
A gifted seamstress, she created beautiful garments for herself, her grandchildren, and even their dolls. Her needlepoint work was equally impressive, showcasing her artistic talents and attention to detail. She had a keen eye for shopping and was known for finding the best items and deals, especially at craft shows, which she loved to attend.
Her home reflected her impeccable taste and love of decorating, always thoughtfully coordinated and often adorned with swan motifs, a symbol she held dear from Denmark. Her favorite color, blue, was a constant presence in her wardrobe and décor, adding a touch of serenity and elegance.
She will be remembered for her boundless energy, independence, and her creative spirit.
