Gloria Consuelo Londoño

Born on September 15, 1953, in Venecia, Cundinamarca, Colombia, she was the much-loved daughter of Cristobal Alvarado and Carmen Rosa Alvarado.

Gloria’s path aligned with the love of her life during her time in the Colombian Air Force, sparking a love that would span decades. Gloria and Edilberto married in 1978, and filled with determination and hope, left Colombia to pursue a new chapter in the United States. Together, they built a life filled with love, hard work, partnership, culture, and family.

With a nurturing heart and boundless love, Gloria devoted herself to raising her children, Alexandra, Stella, and Stephanie, creating a home filled with warmth, music, hard work, and cherished traditions. She was also a proud grandmother to Natalia Sophia, Nathan Arturo Daniel, and Bella, who brought her immense joy and whom she showered with affection and wisdom.

Gloria’s love extended beyond her immediate family, deeply touching her siblings Clara Ines, Cecilia, Omar, Carmen Edith, Henry Cristobal, and Martha Lucia, with whom she shared a lifelong bond. Known for her bountiful generosity, Gloria always ensured that her siblings were loved, a reflection of her selflessness and immense heart.

Alongside her husband, Gloria harmonized her deep devotion to family with a quiet determination in her entrepreneurial pursuits, always approaching her work with grace and humility. Together, they opened a Colombian restaurant and two bakeries, where she poured her heart into every endeavor, sharing the rich culture and flavors of their homeland with warmth and pride.

In 2003, they created SAS Food, named after the first letters of their daughters’ names. They played a key role in importing Colombian products to the United States, particularly in the Midwest, leaving a meaningful legacy in the Colombian-American community. Even amidst the demands of her work, Gloria’s kindness and humanity shined through.

Her life was a testament to resilience, faith, love, and hard work, and she will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and warm heart—a wonderful human being, full of love, kindness, and endless dedication.

A memorial mass is scheduled on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Stephen Church, 1280 Prospect Avenue, Des Plaines, IL 60018.

Rodeada por su esposo y sus hijas, Gloria Consuelo Londoño Alvarado, de 71 años, ascendió al cielo para estar con el Señor y sus padres el miércoles 18 de diciembre de 2024.

Nacida el 15 de septiembre de 1953 en Venecia, Cundinamarca, Colombia, fue la amada hija de Cristóbal Alvarado y Carmen Rosa Alvarado.

El camino de Gloria se cruzó con el amor de su vida durante su tiempo en la Fuerza Aérea Colombiana, dando inicio a un amor que perduraría por décadas. Gloria y Edilberto se casaron en 1978 y, llenos de determinación y esperanza, dejaron Colombia para emprender un nuevo capítulo en los Estados Unidos. Juntos, construyeron una vida llena de amor, trabajo arduo, compañerismo, cultura y familia.

Con un corazón amoroso y lleno de ternura, Gloria se dedicó a criar a sus hijas, Alexandra, Stella y Stephanie, creando un hogar lleno de calidez, música, esfuerzo y tradiciones entrañables. También fue una orgullosa abuela de Natalia Sophia, Nathan Arturo Daniel y Bella, quienes le brindaron una inmensa alegría y a quienes colmó de afecto y sabiduría.

El amor de Gloria se extendió más allá de su familia inmediata, tocando profundamente a sus hermanos Clara Inés, Cecilia, Omar, Carmen Edith, Henry Cristóbal y Martha Lucía, con quienes compartió un vínculo inquebrantable. Reconocida por su generosidad inagotable, Gloria siempre se aseguró de que sus hermanos se sintieran amados, reflejo de su abnegación y su enorme corazón.

Junto a su esposo, Gloria combinó su profunda devoción a la familia con una determinación tranquila en sus emprendimientos, siempre abordando su trabajo con gracia y humildad. Juntos, abrieron un restaurante colombiano y dos panaderías, donde ella puso todo su corazón en cada proyecto, compartiendo la rica cultura y los sabores de su tierra natal con calidez y orgullo.

En 2003, crearon SAS Food, nombrado con las iniciales de sus hijas. Jugaron un papel clave en la importación de productos colombianos a los Estados Unidos, particularmente en el Medio Oeste, dejando un legado significativo en la comunidad colombiano-estadounidense. A pesar de las demandas de su trabajo, la bondad y humanidad de Gloria siempre brillaron.

Su vida fue un testimonio de resiliencia, fe, amor y trabajo arduo, y será recordada por su espíritu vibrante y su cálido corazón: un ser humano maravilloso, lleno de amor, amabilidad y una dedicación infinita.

Se ha programado una misa en su memoria para las 10:00 a.m. del sábado 28 de diciembre de 2024, en la Iglesia St. Stephen, ubicada en 1280 Prospect Ave., Des Plaines, IL 60018.
